UNRWA is the United Nations agency responsible for the protection, care and human development of a population of some 4.6 million Palestine refugees living in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and the Syrian Arab Republic. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate will:

- Oversee and review all aspects of fieldwork at the partnering Community Based Organizations (CBOs) according to agreed work plans;

- Facilitate recruitment of CBO based staff funded through GI projects

- Supervise, facilitate and support field team as well as acting as Gender Initiative focal point with the CBOs and Chiefs Area Offices CAOs, including provision of support for beneficiary relations relating to GI project scope and troubleshooting;

- Develop field work plans;

- Coordinate field work with local representatives/community members;

- Review collected project reports to ensure the correctness and validity of information and data for consistency and completeness purposes;

- Contribute and carry out communication/advocacy initiatives when requested;

- Ensure that any project equipment is used properly and coordinate required maintenance with relevant colleagues;

- Work closely with Chief Area Offices to vet partnering CBOs, conduct community outreach activities and facilitate activities related to project monitoring;

- Prepare logistics plans for field work;

- Provide needed support to CBOs in preparing GI project implementation plans, including budgeting, expenditure, activities and reporting.

- Prepare monthly progress reports based on information received from CBOs and beneficiaries.

- Performs such other duties as may be assigned

 

PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

 

- Minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in the related field

- A minimum of three years’ work experience in INGOs or UN agencies project implementation with experience working with women and gender issues preferred;

- At least three years of working experience in coordinating projects among a number of community based structures;

 

- Experience of developing and implementing CBOs capacity-building;

- Experience in basic Project Cycle Management;

- Good written and spoken English;

- Good knowledge of computer applications (particularly MS Office applications); and

- Proven ability to effectively work in a team setting and solve problems in a fast paced environment.

 

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

 

- Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary varies from $935.6 to $1401.6 based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate; plus a currency adjustment factor (present rate 4.68%).

- Contract Duration: six months. Extension is subject to continued need, availability of funds and satisfactory service.

- Leave: 30 days annual leave.

- Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.

- A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.

 

EQUIVALENCY

 

Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.
