CARE is seeking to recruit an experienced, committed, and suitable professional to fill the following vacancy to support a Global Affairs- Canada (GAC) funded project; AYADI that focuses on the most vulnerable, including small-scale farming households who have been a) affected by the ongoing deterioration of the situation and conflict in Gaza in 2014 and b) the farmers who live in the most vulnerable communities in the eastern slopes, Hebron and the Jordan Valley in the West Bank.

Reports to: Economic Empowerment Program Coordinator

Start date: June 2016 (anticipated start date)

Position type and duration: Full time One year (renewable )

 

Summary: 

 

The Agricultural Engineer, based in Gaza, is responsible to: supervise technical aspects of the implementation of agricultural related works under a GAC funded project (AYADI) and others if needed, ensure that all works are executed in compliance with the specifications, standards and contract drawings, collect data and information about the project outputs and indicators and update the project’s database, and prepare and submit field reports on the implementation of the activities that s/he is responsible for.

 

Requirements

 

-Bachelors of Science in Agriculture or other related discipline

-A minimum of 4 years’ experience of field work with the focus of improving local food security, and in the implementation of agricultural projects and preferable experience in small scale farming at household level.

-Experience in agricultural extension to the farmers/households. Conducting needs assessments, database, research, evaluation and/or preparing analytical works

-Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

-Outstanding organizational skills

-Excellent documentation skills in English language

-knowledge of NGOs and CBOs structures

-Experience in  data collection and/or monitoring and evaluation is desired

-Experience with participatory community development tools and methods is desired

-Advanced report writing in English is desired

-Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, databases

-Basic research skills

-Good written and oral English and Arabic language skills
