Accountant
The Union of Housing Cooperatives in Palestine (PUHC) in partnership with We Effect offers for the provision of services under the framework of the project:“Strengthen PUHC capacities in providing services for its members and protecting their rights” (project № 5225).
Main purpose of the project is to strengthen the organizational capacities of PUHC through project monitoring, evaluation and coordination, reinforcing business capacities and service delivery of PUHC and its members, strengthening PUHC advocacy and lobbying capacities to defend its member’s rights and interests and promoting women equal rights of access to economic opportunities and participation at PUHC and its members.
PUHC requires the services of an Accountant to support the implementation of the project components.
Tasks
Accountancy tasks:
-Process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
-Audit the financial transaction and issuing checks and payment
-Update accounts receivable and issue invoices
-Contact and follow up with vendors / payees to complete transactions
-Prepare PUHC staff salaries (deducting taxes)
-Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations
-Process of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to PUHC financial guidelines
-Update financial data in the accounting system to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
-Prepare and submit monthly reports
-Assist Executive Director in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
-Prepare Bank Reconciliations on a monthly basis
-Prepare and Monitor the project’s budget
-Maintain accounting control by following the internal manuals,procurement processes and other laws.
Other tasks:
-Update existing database of Housing cooperatives and establish continuous communication
-Conduct field visits as required by PUHC and the Project
-Collect relevant information and data as requested
-Assists in the daily administration of PUHC.
Minimum Requirements
-BS in accounting (either major or minor), finance, business administration or any relevant field
-At least 2-3 years of relevant work experience
-Proven knowledge in accounting and financial reporting principles and procurement practices
-Experience and willingness to conductfield work
-Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software
-Experience in Accounting Systems
-Good English skills (writing, reading and speaking)
-Knowledge of the Palestinian housing sector and actors is desirable.
