CARE is seeking to recruit an experienced, committed, and suitable professional to fill the following vacancy to support a US Agency for International Development (USAID) funded project. Gaza 2020: Health Matters is a five-year intervention designed to improve the resilience of the health sector in Gaza by increasing access to and quality of emergency and essential health services provided by NGOs, CBOs, and private providers.

Summary:  

 

The logistician will be responsible for the planning, receiving and distribution of medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and other commodities procured through the Gaza 2020: Health Matters Program and emergency interventions in Gaza. The logistician will be responsible for assuring that the ordering, receiving, storage, and delivery of the medical supplies procured through the health project and other when needed will be according to proper technical requirements. S/he will play a major role in the needs assessment; supporting to compile the lists for ordering in accordance with CARE and donor regulation. S/he is responsible for commodities from the time the order has been placed with the vendor until delivered to the end user.

 

S/he must be in close liaison with procurement team at CARE, partners, beneficiaries and shipping agents. S/he manages the Gaza warehouse, tracks and controls the logistics system; helps in sampling and quality control of received pharmaceuticals if needed, packaging, etc.; arranges with recipients and sub-grantees to properly deliver the procured items while also following up with vendors and recipients for proper installation of equipment. The logistician must have experience of establishing, supervising and implementing and tracking multiple orders and deliveries, as well as management of supply chain. Special attention must be paid to the quality of items procured and the time of delivery of all items. The logistician will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a computer database of commodity movement and receipt reports and real time tracking of all commodities including expiry dates.

 

 

 

Requirements

 

-Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, biomedical engineering, or other related discipline strongly preferred in a health related field, or combination of relative education and experience.

-Training in logistics is desired

-At least one year of commodity management experience is a must

-Experience with commodity management, including pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and medical disposables is a must

-Experience in pharmaceuticals and medical supplies assistance projects is highly desirable

-Experience in the importation and distribution of commodities into the West Bank and Gaza, particularly with ordering and clearance is highly desirable

-Good written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic.

-Knowledge of USAID regulations and compliance is a plus
