UNRWA is the United Nations agency responsible for the protection, care and human development of a population of some 4.6 million Palestine refugees living in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and the Syrian Arab Republic. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate:
- Assists in drafting project proposals, project progress and final reports; through coordination with the concerned departments , collecting & organizing data and information on the progress/challenges during the various stages of the project life cycle;
- Organizes regular and ad-hoc meetings; prepares of minutes of meetings and summaries of actions to be taken; tracking of progress on planned issues; follow -up with focal points;
- Monitors and controls financial expenditure of projects in coordination with the Administrative Officers of the programme and service departments, the Field Finance Officer and HQ Finance Department.
- Assists the Projects Office team in developing alternative plans in coordination with the departments to utilize balance of funds remaining after the completion of projects;
- Assists the Projects Office during donor/s visits;
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned
PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
- A university degree in “Civil Engineering” preferably with formal training in project development and project cycle management;
- At least two years of relevant experience.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic;
- Excellent report writing skills;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Proven ability in establishing effective internal work relationships at all levels and in coordination;
- Ability to work under pressure;
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
- Basic Salary: The monthly basic salary may vary from $935.5 to $1,261.40 depending on the qualifications and years of relevant experience. Candidates with experience less than two years will be recruited against Band [D]; while candidates with experience above two years shall be compensated at Band [E] level, currency adjustment factor (present rate 4.18%); monthly dependency allowance $18.65 and Group Medical Insurance GMI $12.00
- Contract Duration: One year extendable
- Leave: 30 days annual leave.
- An existing LDC member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current status to accept the new LDC appointment.
- A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.
EQUIVALENCY
Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.
ASSESSMENT METHOD
Qualified candidates will be required to undergo tests and a competency based interview.
