UNRWA is the United Nations agency responsible for the protection, care and human development of a population of some 4.6 million Palestine refugees living in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and the Syrian Arab Republic.

UNRWA is by far the largest UN operation in the Middle East with over 29,000 staff. Most of the staff members are refugees themselves, working directly to benefit their communities – as teachers, doctors, nurses or social workers.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate will:
 Oversee and review all aspects of the projects activities implemented mostly through local NGOs and CBOs
 Prepare Term of references (TORs) for project activities;
 Facilitate recruitment of staff based in partner organizations and supported by UNRWA Gender Initiative (GI);
 Supervise, support and facilitate work of field based staff;
 Develop accurate and quality action and work plans;
 Coordinate the projects activities in cooperation with UNRWA-GI implementing partners and/or GI team;
 Review collected M&E and reporting information and data for consistency and accuracy; supervise data entry and ensure that project monitoring tools are correctly and fully completed
 Contribute and carry out communication/advocacy initiatives when requested;  Work closely with other UNRWA departments, especially support departments, in order to facilitate timely project implementation;
 Prepare narrative and financial reports and updates relating to GI projects;
 Perform such other duties as may be required.

PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
 Minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in social/human sciences, Human Rights, Project Management, Engineering, or any other related field;
 At least four years of proven work experience in managing projects among a number of community based structures and relating to gender/women’s issues, with at least three of these in an INGO or UN setting;
 Excellent written and spoken English;
 Good knowledge of civic community organization;
 Good knowledge of computer applications (particularly MS Office applications); and
 Proven ability to effectively work in a team setting and solve problems in a fast paced environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The incumbent will be required do regular visits and work across Agency’s five governorates in the Gaza Strip.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
 The monthly basic salary $1,296.90; and monthly dependency allowance $18.65 and Group Medical Insurance GMI $12.00.
 Contract Duration: six months. Extension is subject to continued need, availability of funds and satisfactory service.
 Leave: 30 days annual leave.
 Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
 A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.

EQUIVALENCY
When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Director of Human Resources; in consultation with the Director of UNRWA Operations, Gaza may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience.
NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
